Getting started with DClip
Prelaunch preview: these steps are for when downloads become available. Downloads and purchases are not open yet.
This guide covers VST3 on Apple Silicon. The tested setup is Ableton Live 12.4.6 on macOS 26.5. Public release is pending. Intel Macs, CLAP and other hosts have not been validated in a real DAW. DClip has no Audio Unit or AAX version.
1. Install the plug-in
Quit your DAW, then unzip DClip-<version>-macOS.zip.
In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and paste:
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
Create the VST3 folder if it is missing, then copy the whole DClip.vst3 bundle into it. This installs it for your user account only. To install for all users instead, use /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/; Finder may ask for an administrator password.
2. Let your DAW find it
Open Ableton Live and go to Settings → Plug-Ins. Turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders, then click Rescan.
Ableton Live uses the VST3 version, not CLAP. Other VST3 hosts have their own plug-in manager or rescan option, but have not yet been tested with DClip.
3. Review the agreement
Open DClip’s editor to read the bundled agreement. Pause playback before choosing Agree: processing can resume with the current settings and may change the level.
Until acceptance saves successfully, DClip shows Agreement required — processing bypassed and passes audio through with the mode’s reported latency. Decline keeps it bypassed; you can reopen the editor to review again. Closing the editor or activating a license does not accept the agreement.
The 30-day trial starts at the first host load or scan, even before you accept. Acceptance and reinstalling do not restart it. Processing requires both agreement acceptance and a valid trial or license.
4. Activate when you have a license
Click Activate License…, paste the entire license from your email, every line from “DClip license” through “Key”, then click Activate. The Key line alone will not work.
The strip will read LICENSED, and the button becomes License…. Activation is offline and applies to your user account across hosts. Agreement acceptance is still required.
Need a hand?
- Not listed? Check the folder and format, then rescan or restart your DAW.
- Still bypassed? Check the agreement and trial/license status. If acceptance cannot save, contact support.
- License rejected? Copy the whole block again without changing any characters.
Email dclip.support@gmail.com with your macOS version, Mac processor, DAW/version, DClip version, and what happened. For license issues, include your order number, not your secret license key.
